Jandek - You Standing There

"How to describe the music of Jandek? Like most amateur rock critics, start by comparing him to the Beatles. Then strip away melody, catchy hooks, rhythm, and harmony. Next toss out vocal and instrumental ability, along with any trace of human feeling other than dull, lingering pain. Aside from these deficiencies, he's exactly like the Fab Four."

So this dude's performing at UCI's Crystal Cove Auditorium in the Student Center on January 8th. And I'm extremely curious.

His music is basically like the description above -- no tune, no melody, and devoid of all emotion except for abstract, atonal catastrophe.

Nobody knows about this man's history. He has only done one interview after making 60 albums since 1978.

His music goes against basically anything you'd want to hear in a song.
Which, oddly, allures me to listen to him even more.
