Cater to U - Destiny's Child Cover

I apologize for the lateness but I do want to share with you one of my favorite youtube covers of a song by Destiny's Child called "Cater to U." Although there are no vocals, I think the instruments do the song justice. I forgot to mention that these guys are my brother's friends from UCLA... or at least one of them is but I forgot. Anyway, enjoy! :)

Ebrahim - As I Am

Today my brother introduced me to this song called "As I Am" by an artist named Ebrahim. He also showed me Melissa Polinar's (an amazing youtube singer's) cover of the song and I fell in love with both versions of the song in addition to the lyrics. I think the song is beautiful. Whenever I feel like I'm at a loss for words, I try to find a song that captures exactly how I feel. Music brings everything to life. How powerful is that? I love it.

If you took a look at me now
I know you may not see too much
No fancy occupation name
Or the time for Sunday brunch
See the life I live is quite simple
Cause all that complex stuff
Gets in the way of what I’m trying to do
And that’s give you my love
So if you…

Take me as I am
And let your heart find its
Way to me
See I’ll be all that you need
Oh if you take me as I am
You know I want to share my world with you
And I’ll give my love that’s true

Now everyday your love inspires me
You keep striving for the better things
So one day we can live all comfortably
I see it in your eyes
But don’t worry no more
I may not have it all planned
But I can see what the future holds

Take me as I am
And let your heart find its
Way to me
See I’ll be all that you need
Oh if you take me as I am
You know I want to share my world with you
And I’ll give my love that’s true

The KING of Pop.

I'm sorry to double up on Jerick's post but I was also really shocked, upset & sad when I heard the news. Contemporary pop stars like Britney, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Chris Brown (and so many more) have ALL been influenced by Michael Jackson: his timeless songs, his smooth moves and choreography, his captivating & mesmerizing stage presence... and especially his music videos which were huge productions in themselves! Even as a kid, I came to appreciate the stories he would tell through the songs that he sang & danced to. "Thriller"? "Billie Jean"? "Remember the Time?" Need I say more? I can't even imagine where music would be without him. He wasn't just a singer or dancer, he was & always will be a music icon. Rest in peace, M.J. We'll miss you but your music will truly live on forever.
