Here is my soul mate, er, Josh Ritter. He's a folk singer from Idaho and gained much more popularity in Ireland than he did in the States. His lyrics are enticing, his music moving, and his voice uplifting - he is my epitome of a true musical talent. Also, he is much better live than on record!! Gotta love that. If his music doesn't get you, his personality will! If his personality still doesn't get you, his bassist's mustache will!
This is one if his most famous songs, "Kathleen." Though the quality of the video is pretty horrendous (sorry!), his enthusiasm to be performing transcends the general crappiness of youtube :)
Name: Lechonpark Location: Southern California Favorite Genre of Music: I'm not going to lie and say "assorted genres" or "little bit of everything." I basically like Eurobeat, power metal, video game and anime tracks, 70s and 80s music, and dance music. I also have a thing for music with comedy or kitsch value.

I was going to post another song but I came upon this when browsing Youtube. Whenever this song pops up on the radio I immediately change it but when watching this I was actually very intrigued that she can actually sing, the style of this performance reminds me of 1920's cabaret music. She's very out there, and it shows in this video, but I really cant deny she has a singing voice.

To start things off, here's a video of a song I just recently found on Youtube. It's a song called "What's a Girl to Do" by Bat for Lashes, an Indie band. I thought the video was pretty interesting, and the song is pretty cool too. The video is a bit weird, though, I have to admit, but check it out anyways:

Anyway, I was at work and some kid asked what type of music I listen to. FYI, he's 13. I named a few genres and he told me some of his. And I started telling him about some of the first artists I used to listen to as a kid. When I got to hip hop, I mentioned Naughty by Nature. Although, he had NO IDEA who they were. Crazy, huh? I was pretty shocked. But worse, he made me feel really old. Anyway, I thought about it that night and remembered how naughty by nature played a big role in the era of 90's music, especially for hip hop. So just to jumpstart this post, here's a taste of that music for your listening pleasure.

Name: Luis Rosales Location: Pomona, CA & Berkeley, CA Favorite Genre of Music: Hard one because I don't really gravitate around one genre of music too often: in my car my preset stations are KROQ(AltRock), AMP (Top40), KISS (Top40), KLOS (Classic Rock), Power 106 (HipHop) and KUSC (Classical)...but if I had to choose one I'd prolly go with plain ol' Alternative Rock. I have always really enjoyed Pink Floyd, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, 30 Seconds to Mars, Bad Religion, NoFX, Strung Out, Britney Spears, Mozart, Vivaldi, etc... Posting Style: I usually try to put the Artist's name and video at the top, add my own two cents about the video/song and then I put the video embedded. or wait...I don't know, just go with it... Random/Corny Fact About Myself: I've seen a man get shot 5 times in the chest, drag himself across a street to die on the door of his own car; I've been the victim teller during a bank robbery; I've lived more in my 20 years of life than most adults do in a lifetime. Thanks, Berkeley.
ANYWAY.
This song has been a huge huge HUGE favorite of mine for the LONGEST time. I think my good friend Krzysz introduced me to Emmanuel Moire Fall semester this year.
Emmanuel Moire - Ça Me Fait Du Bien
