"The Fog Rose High" by Craft Spells
This song plays during the part of my romantic-comedy where the guy and the girl are in love. They tie the knot years later in the epilogue and find themselves still married because neither of them has the guts to get it together and leave the other.

Crystal Castles | Plague
New song by Crystal Castles released in July of this year! Perhaps this is a taste of their upcoming album, which they've been working on since around February I believe. Can't wait!

Two Gallants -- My Love Won't Wait
You can try, but ain’t no use I’ll lose it if you cut me loose You can try, but ain’t no use I’ll lose it if you cut me loose Darling please don’t hesitate Can I get you now, or must I wait? I can feel my patience running thin I stare the wall, walk the floor But somehow end up at your door And you refuse to let me in But something ain’t quite right to me I can’t seem to let you leave My love won’t wait Come back when you’re most alone My coat pocket’s full of stones Hurl at your window while you sleep You don’t let me hang around But Imma tear your plate ass down Run to the river bridge and leap Cause something ain’t quite right to me I can’t seem to let you leave My love won’t wait Don’t you threat, don’t you fear While I whisper in your ear There’s no escape Cause something ain’t quite right to me I can’t seem to let you leave My love won’t wait So don’t you threat, don’t you fear While I whisá¹—er in your ear There’s no escape You can try, but ain’t no use I’ll lose it if you cut me loose You can try, but ain’t no use I’ll lose it if you cut me loose You can try, but ain’t no use You can try, but ain’t no use You can try, but ain’t no use You can try, but ain’t no use You can try, but ain’t no use You can try, but ain’t no use You can try, but ain’t no use You can try, but ain’t no use

Silversun Pickups | Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)
I actually didn't like Silversun Pickups very much before (maybe it was the raspy vocals?) until I heard this song. Plus, this video is gorgeous. I really want to go stargazing in Anza Borrego again.

Johnny Foreigner - Every Cloakroom Ever
So I found this song during a video of Kristin Stewart in Adventureland. People make fun of her a lot, and my mind just somehow conforms into thinking that I don't like her and I make fun of her too. In reality though deep down, I think she's hella attractive, but that's just me.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm
The days where I just lay back, not having a care in the world about anything. The times where I'm sick and tired of thinking about school, making money, pursuing such a person like "my other half", and other things where such expectations must be met in order to have the "ideal life". Being 21 was just another eye opener and it just made me kill my innocence. My heart is both drunk and a kid. "Cut that little child, inside of me and such a part of you
Ooh, the years burn..."

Nothing from Nowhere - 80's Romance Song
Alright so check it, I met a girl named Tess, (i'm calling her Tess out of anonymous reasons) at Anime Expo. We hit it off, we did everything together. It wasn't until we got into a drunken mess and she did something stupidly retarded at the party we were at that made me storm out of the room and run to the opposite side of the floor to take the elevator so that she won't catch me. I went to another party to get messed up even more which led to me just going to the lobby of the hotel and sleep. She woke me up to apologize for what she did was not intentional and confesses her feelings for me where I did the same but in conclusion we decided to not start a long distance relationship because of this ambiguous feeling of not being ready and not ruining what we have. So we spent our last days together wasted and together. We had a long and heartful goodbye as I walked her to her cab. My best friend sleptover at my house and we fell asleep on the same bed. The next day she woke me up saying you were sleep talking and kept repeating, "Tess don't go, Tess come back, Tess let's make this work" and I threw a pillow at her. As of now it is Day 3 of having this excruciating withdrawals and just thinking about how those last 5 days felt amazing and now it's just a bunch of confusion thinking that it felt like we broke up and didn't break up at the same time. And this is where this song comes in to play. My Anime Expo experience seriously felt like a rendition of the movie "The Bodyguard" AND IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!

Velvet Underground - Pale Blue Eyes
Catchy tune, just another feel good drag song that helps ease the pain that's been killing me all over last week. Everything is all good now.

The Bouncing Souls - Wish Me Well
Back from LA, snapping back to reality with these daily posts. It's one of those songs where a couple or significant others sing to one another and then storm out of the place and hook up with a new guy or girl haha. The only thing I can think that's similar to this is that scene from "How I Met a Guy in 10 Days" where Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey sing "You're So Vain"

Mark Sescon - She's in the Whale
The song I'll be using in a movie idea that I want to make in the near future. Lately I've been just letting the camera roll during my adventures. Although I wasn't able to film every single thing that's been going on with me as of this summer, I can't give up on that fact and just make the best with what I have.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core OST - The Price of Freedom
My friend and I were sending youtube links after youtube links of songs tonight on AIM. This song grabbed my attention and just thought it was a dope song. My friend wants to learn to play the violin and maybe her and I can learn to cover this song. Anyways I'm always into video game soundtracks but I was never into handheld game consoles like PSP or the Gameboy so hearing this was a first.

Musiq SoulChild - Just Friends
Alright so check it... I had an orthodontist appointment on Saturday. I rarely go there nowadays since I don't wear braces no more. I go there probably twice a year, and every time I go there my orthodontist would have new dental assistants. Usually the assistants don't talk to me, they probably say hi and what not but that's about it. This certain one however talked to me, asked me questions about this and that. After getting my cavities drilled we talked some more since she was on her break. I'd rather talk to someone than sit in the waiting room reading magazines that are a couple of months old. We hit it off I guess, in a way that I built courage to ask her if she wanted to have lunch or grab coffee with me. She however grabbed my plane and crashed it by saying she's too old for me (28 yrs old). I told my friend about this and she said at least you didn't sound/look like a creeper when you asked and how I was honest and I just wanted to get to know her. It reminded her of this song that I'm about to post, and yeah lol. I would hear this in every event I go to (dances and what not), but never could catch the lyrics cuz I was too into the beat/music. But better late than never (neeeeeeverrr say neverrrr).

Angela McCluskey - Hey You (illestrait Remix)
This song was playing during a kickback at my friends. Good times are rolling.
Saturday, June 9, 2012
Jann Arden - Run Like Mad
Okay, so this is the first theme song of "Dawson's Creek" before that song by Paula Cole (I don't want to wait... FOR OUR LIVES TO BE OVER!!!!!!!!!!). I started watching that show when it's on Netflix for Instant Queue. Very appealing and very heart throbbing song, I think it's dope. Bittersweet nostalgia and what not.
Friday, June 8, 2012
The Explorers Club - Freedom Wind
My friend was singing this song in the car, I was never into his music and neither will he. We both like rap though, but that's another post.
Thursday, June 7, 2012
Wye Oak - Dogs Eyes
I first heard this band when their song "Civilian" was playing at the end of an episode of "The Walking Dead". I'm not so into folk indie, but this band is pushing me to listen more in regards to that specific genre.
Wednesday, June 6, 2012
Best Coast - Do You Still Love Me Like You Use
The song I'm going to be playing when my friend and I go to the beach and burn 4-5 years worth of mementos at the bonfire.
Tuesday, June 5, 2012
Hammock - You Lost the Starlight in Your Eyes
Downtime music, this song was playing in my car in the late evening when I was taking my friend home. Silence was in the car, neither of us spoke and nor was this silence awkward. In perfect harmony, I made it to her home right when the song ended (it's a long song). After that we talked and just said summer is just beginning, and it's only going to get better. To next chapter of our lives as we go off to the adventures of summer 2012. That's pretty much the gist of me posting this song.

Guns N' Roses - Catcher in the Rye
1000th Post!!!
Thanks for letting me post my music here!
The song talks about how a person would feel and interpret the book "Catcher in the Rye" (my favorite book). There's also some talk about the song talking about John Lennon's death. I was reading the forums on the meaning of the lyrics, and it's always different perspectives here and there. It's just a nice tune and it feels like something from an ending of a episode or movie.
P.S. I was going to post the song "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton for my 1000th post, but I know that I posted that sometime ago ._.

Joseph Gordon Levitt - You Can't Hurry Love (Cover)
Having chemistry with someone is dope, but it's just not the right time. When in doubt, I just get serenaded by Joseph Gordon Levitt (not really), but this song helps me stay patient haha. Thai food helps too, but that's another thing o.o...

Michelle Branch - Loud Music
Miss listening to her music, this song is dope. This song was on repeat on my mind when I was hanging out last night haha. It was a long night, and it was just a feel good song, something you would see at like "One Tree Hill" or something o.O.
Friday, June 1, 2012
Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag
Just reminds me of high school, never had that "hanging with the boys" kind of group like in American Pie. But later on those gaps were filled, and now I'm having a ball. It's just bamf having that friend that shares music and gives you the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia.
Wednesday, May 30, 2012
The Faces - Ooh La La
This song was from the movie "Rushmore". It's a Wes Anderson film, it reminds me of my ex. She digs Wes Anderson films, it's bittersweet listening to her favorite music. But I can't help and feel nonchalant about it and just appreciate good music such as this song.
Pooh Sticks - On Tape
One of my songs in my playlist when I would walk. It gets me going and gives that outside atmosphere feel.
Tuesday, May 29, 2012
Breakbot - Baby I'm Hung Up (feat. Madonna)
Just another funky song, one of those songs that you just dance the night away when your troubles are just consuming you.

Come on, just kill this, nervous and nauseous;
All this commotion is not worth it.

FYI: So I'm posting way too many iamamiwhoami videos, but her music has been my obsession for quite some time now... and she continues to update her YouTube with more and more impressive songs. So I can't help it!

People Under The Stairs - San Francisco Knights
Never been to SF, so I listen to songs about SF. It's the closest to SF I can get to right now.

The Monkees - Mary, Mary
This song was playing when I was dancing with my friend. This song also reminds me of how I was smitten over a girl for the past couple of months. Thankfully, I broke out of her spell and I now chuckle as this song was me for quite awhile.

May Fave 5
It's been a while, but I wanted to do a quick compilation of the 5 songs I have been constantly listening to these past few weeks. Head on past the break to see what's on my playlist.
1. Florence + The Machine - "Hardest of Hearts"
I'll start off with the gal I've completely fallen in love with this year, the lovely Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine. I love just about all of her music, to be honest, but as of late I've really been loving her track "Hardest of Hearts".
2. The Reign of Kindo - "Symptom of a Stumbling"
Following Flo's powerful vocals and haunting lyrics is the simple yet emotionally rich "Symptom of Stumbling" by The Reign of Kindo. These guys typically have a dramatic, rich multi-instrument sound focusing greatly on guitar riffs and exciting drum beats, but this song departs from all of that with a duo of vocals and piano that is truly captivating.
3. Silversun Pickups - "Mean Spirits"
From their latest album, this song is a great representation of the darker tone and higher energy of the new album as a whole. It of course maintains classic catchy Silversun riffs and, along with the song "Busy Bees" on this album, makes my top faves list for Silversun as a whole.
4. Mutemath - "All or Nothing"
I've been listening to Mutemath for a while, and this latest song really shows they've come a long way. The electric components that first made me interested in this band are very well showcased (and incredibly catchy), especially in the bridge.
5. Parov Stelar - "Chambermaid Swing"
This last one is a bit of a stand-out from the rest. I heard a portion of it during a TV ad (*coughbacardicough*), and while it didn't stand out to me much then, my boyfriend decided to identify the song and listen to the full track. It's jazzy with some electric beats thrown in, and overall it's just a fun listen.

Magic Man - Polygons
In their quieter songs Magic Man sounds to me a bit like what would result if M83 incorporated 8-bit tones into their music. In a couple of their louder moments I thought the vocals actually sounded reminiscent of Funeral era Arcade Fire... Anyway it synthesizes down to an enjoyable and relatively original sound that I find instantly catchy. I recommend "Darling" and "Monster" if you want to check out more of their music.

Grimes | Genesis
So. I haven't posted about Grimes yet. This post is several months due. A hipster friend of mine at my old job told me about this song. I love his taste in music. This song is a reason why. Grimes is an indie/electronica band from Canada.

iamamiwhoami | good worker
The third video of a 3-part music video series posted mysteriously by iamamiwhoami, starting with "sever". Where she is going with this, I'm not sure... but all of it is genius. I thought iamamiwhoami was already impressive with the release of the "b-o-u-n-t-y" series, but this new stream of videos only magnifies the talent and versatility of iamamiwhoami's music.

iamamiwhoami | sever
Another amazing song by iamamiwhoami, released on Valentine's Day. However, I was too busy and too sick to make this post yesterday (yay wisdom teeth extraction).
"Sever", like her other songs, has dark undertones, simple color schemes, and peculiar choices in clothing (if any). Her past music videos had her wearing dresses made of plastic, mud all over her body and face, leaves, foil, and frequently nothing but her own skin. In "Sever", the bare trees, wide room, and cloudy weather also contribute to themes of emptiness and simplicity.
Jonna Lee's voice, I believe, is the pulling force for this song--much like the voice of Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife. And even Pearl from Zeigeist. The complexities in pitch add weight, momentum, and perplexity to the song, which undoubtedly distinguishes iamamiwhoami from many.
iamamiwhoami | sever
Here is a sample of the poetic lyrics from "Sever":
I won't be fooled by its touch,
an emotional supply,
The scent of a fail
in heavy love we dry,
The cold in the bare grass
so delicate by one's eye,
it's why we can't ally
and elope tonight.

Clint Mansell | Moon OST #1 - Welcome to Lunar Industries
Clint Mansell, the renowned music composer for acclaimed films like Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, and The Fountain, also created the eerie, mysterious, and provocative soundtrack for an independent British film known as Moon.
The soundtrack for Moon will be presented by Mansell himself at the Largo at the Coronet in April 4 and 5, 2012. A sample of Mansell's mastery of music and art is posted below. (And, if you haven't already done so, please watch this fantastic movie known as Moon!)

Memoryhouse | Bonfire
Ambient. Soft. Summer. Sun rays. A lazy day in a hipster coffee shop.
Memoryhouse | Bonfire
I'm somewhat in an "easy listening" phase. Nothing too harsh or loud is perfect at the moment. Canadian band Memoryhouse has vocals resembling Zooey Deschanel (in my opinion) with melodies that are slow, but not quite melancholic. I would describe "Bonfire" as the title implies: warm, cozy, and hopeful.
Sub Pop Records is on a role with artists like The Album Leaf, Iron and Wine, CocoRosie, and of course Memoryhouse. Memoryhouse's album The Slideshow Effect, which includes "Bonfire", will be released February 28, 2012.

Youth Lagoon | Daydream
I heard this song in Urban Outfitters. It was one of those songs where I just knew I would bitterly regret not asking an employee what the song playing in the background was. Youth Lagoon is described by last.fm as:
Youth Lagoon | Daydream
The dreamy, reverb-laden outlet of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Powers (Boise, ID), sharing his emotions in every drop of his music, leaving no room for any sort of privacy. While listening to this song, I really feel as if I am in a daydream (if such a thing could be transfigured into music). Another song of note is "Montana".
