I came up with this idea tonight - IndieCon. A conference of independent music, visual arts, film, literature, politics/causes, and culinary arts. I plan for it to be a one day thing - DJs and acoustic performances during the day; booths and such too. There will be a "community" [organic] garden, and food vendors will be brought in on the one condition that they exclusively use the garden. I plan to close the night off with two bands and a film screening. Very low budget. Very low-fi. Very indie.
Please offer your opinions - i.e., locations, ticket prices, promotional ideas, bands/people/authors/film makers/food vendors/etc. who'd be interested, etc. They are vital for IndieCon.

They used to have something like this in Fullerton, called Fremm Fest. It was very cool. I think it would be difficult to have something like this be low budget, considering you'd need audio equipment, a stage, facility rentals, etc.
There are definitely a lot of groups you could ask for assistance- GOOD magazine comes to mind.
urban outfitters as a sponsor comes to mind
I know you were asking suggestions for a location but did you have any places in mind?
Maybe Gypsy Den would like to contribute :)!
